This listing is for the largest of the trio of sea glass bangles within the 'Smokey Waters' collection - the last six images here show it alongside the other two bangles in the range in order to allow for a direct comparison. This particular bangle features a gorgeous pear-shaped piece of deep smoke grey sea glass, wrapped in a bespoke handcrafted decorative bezel setting and paired with a slim band of sterling silver wire. It has been fully hallmarked by the Assay Office, London.

The sea glass in this bangle is a striking deep smokey-grey, with the glass itself measuring 23mm by 18mm at the widest parts. It is mounted in a lovely solid-backed handcrafted silver setting which measures 37mm by 21mm wide and is 7mm deep.

The bangle itself is made of 2mm round sterling silver wire, shaped in a gentle oval to comfortably fit the wrist. It measures approximately 62mm across in diameter at the widest part and has an inner circumference of 18cm around, meaning it should fit any wrist up to that size.

The bangle is a hinged style and is held closed by tension - a gentle squeeze will release the hook end from the main bezel setting and the bangle can gently slide sideways onto the wrist through the gap, before being gently squeezed again to re-attach and fasten closed.

As the main setting is attached to the wire band via a 'cold closure' (in other words not permanently soldered to it) it is possible for me to change or adjust the size of the band without damaging the sea glass setting. Please contact me if you are interested in this bangle but would prefer the band in an alternative size!

The main setting has been oxidised with a darkening patina before being brought back up to a higher shine to match the band, which is highly polished. The reverse of the backplate has a soft satin brushed finish.

Due to its weight this bangle has been fully hallmarked by The London Assay Office as 925 Sterling Silver and also includes my own unique sponsor's/makers mark 'KAT'. This serves as a guarantee of authenticity to prove that the metal is of the quality and finesse described.

All hallmarked items in the 'Smokey Waters' collection also have the limited edition 'Jubilee' stamp, which is an additional mark released to commemorate Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, and is only available for qualifying items hallmarked within the year 2022 - making any piece that has it extra special!

ABOUT THE SEA GLASS

Sea glass is broadly defined as glass which has been discarded into the oceans or on beaches, thereafter spending many decades being gently tumbled by the waves. This gives it the characteristic smooth edges and beautiful frosted appearance which defines it.

Every piece of sea glass I use is authentic, genuine sea glass – the majority of the material in this collection has been found by fellow beachcombers on the coasts of West Scotland where pieces in this particular shade are more abundant and of a more rounded size and shape than the pieces I find locally on my own beach. It is said that grey sea glass may originate from traditional sources such as glassware and bottles, but also from old TV screens and tinted automobile windows!

As the glass I use is genuine, ocean tumbled sea glass, it does contain the very tiny indentions and 'C' marks on the surface which were created as it spent decades in the water - these are the characteristic signs of its authenticity. These marks are not usually obvious to the naked eye but may be visible in the close-up photographs.

Due to size and value, this bangle will be carefully gift wrapped and presented in a ribbon-tied cardboard gift box. All items are sent in mailing boxes, mailing bags or padded envelopes as appropriate.

Shipping within the UK is already included via Royal Mail's ‘Tracked 24’ service (delivery estimate within 2-3 working days), with an optional upgrade to an express 'Special Delivery' service available at checkout for an additional charge (delivery estimate 1-2 working days).

I always aim to despatch all orders on the same or next working day that they are received, so any upgrade in postage chosen by a customer will be for the purposes of achieving higher priority within the Royal Mail system itself, rather than a faster processing time from me as a seller.
