Product Details

Handcrafted using traditional metalsmithing techniques from sterling silver and using genuine ocean-tumbled sea glass, this beautiful and 'one of a kind' ring is a striking piece that is bound to attract attention!

Made to fit a UK size L/M, it features a lovely pebble of seafoam sea glass in a handcrafted sterling silver bezel setting with a chunky wide band that has been imprinted with a scroll pattern.

The sea glass is a classic seafoam green colour and has been naturally formed by the ocean into an extended oval, almost rectangular, shape. It has beautiful shadows within it and a lovely tactile, frosty domed surface that extends just above the edge of the setting and allows the light to give it a 'glowing' effect.

The glass sits securely within a simple sterling silver bezel setting, with a solid backplate and a plain edge. The setting measures 23mm by 12mm and is 7mm deep.

The band will comfortably fit a UK size L/M (depending on how snug a fit you prefer) with an internal diameter of approximately 17mm directly across. It is often recommended that wide band rings such as this one need to be purchased a size larger than usual, but please be reassured that this has already been taken into account in the description.

The band has a width of 9.5mm, and a thickness of 1mm. It has a textured finish that has been created using a scroll patterned steel plate in a rolling mill. It also has a 'split shank' open-style fitting on the underside of the bezel backplate.

This means that the size is fixed, but the sea glass doesn't sit too high or proud on the hand. It also makes for a more comfortable and snug fit and reduces the likelihood of the ring sliding around or dropping from side to side on the finger.

The silver has been oxidised with a darkening patina to highlight the details and create a sense of light and shadow, and polished to a soft satin finish with a light sheen. The reverse of the backplate has a lightly brushed satin finish.

A unique ring in a wonderful contemporary style, this is an elegant and unusual piece of jewellery that is perfect for indulging your inner mermaid!

ABOUT THE SEA GLASS

Sea glass is broadly defined as glass which has been discarded into the oceans or on beaches, thereafter spending many decades being gently tumbled by the waves. This gives it the characteristic smooth edges and beautiful frosted appearance which defines it.

Every piece of sea glass I use is authentic, genuine sea glass – some of which I collect myself from my local beach, and other pieces which I source from fellow beachcombers located in other parts of the country. The glass in these earrings is from beaches on the North East coast of the UK.

As the glass I use is genuine, ocean tumbled sea glass, it does contain the very tiny indentions and 'C' marks on the surface which were created as it spent decades in the water - these are the characteristic signs of its authenticity. These marks are not usually obvious to the naked eye but may be visible in the close-up photographs.

Each item of sea glass jewellery I make will by its very nature be unique and 'one of a kind' - the pictures you see here in each listing will be of the exact item that will be received and I always try to give as accurate a description as possible. Please feel free to message me if there is anything else you would like to know about sea glass or any item in this collection!

PACKAGING & SHIPPING

Due to weight and size, this ring will be carefully gift wrapped and presented in a ribbon-tied cardboard gift box. All items are sent in mailing boxes, mailing bags or padded envelopes as appropriate.

Shipping within the UK is already included via Royal Mail's ‘Tracked 24’ service (delivery estimate within 2-3 working days), with an optional upgrade to an express 'Special Delivery' service available at checkout for an additional charge (delivery estimate 1-2 working days).

I always aim to despatch all orders on the same or next working day that they are received, so any upgrade in postage chosen by a customer will be for the purposes of achieving higher priority within the Royal Mail system itself, rather than a faster processing time from me as a seller.

Please be aware that I am unable to guarantee specific delivery times of orders once posted but an estimate will be provided on checkout. This is a guide only.

GIFT WRAP & MESSAGING

This item already includes the gift packaging upgrade as standard, which is why the option to select it is not included on this listing.

If you wish to include a short handwritten message on a tag then I am more than happy to provide this service free of charge. Please enter any required text in the optional box to the left of the images.

In addition, if you wish the item to be sent direct to the recipient, then please make sure the mailing address is correct during the checkout process.
