These unique and unusual sea glass earrings are one of three simpler styles in the 'Smokey Waters' collection, and each feature a smooth grey pebble of sea glass, hung from a sterling silver hookwire by means of a length of fine sterling silver belcher chain, threaded through a drilled hole and suspended from silver rings.
The larger twisted silver ring measures 8mm in diameter, and the smaller one is 6mm. The sea glass pebbles have been carefully drilled by hand with the chain threaded through the hole - in the same design as the Pebble Pendants which are available in a separate listing.
These earrings are sold as individual pairs, and there are currently three pairs available, all in the same lovely steel-grey shade; one small and round, one larger and round, and one with a more cylindrical shape. They each have a very tactile, lightly frosted surface.
One piece of glass in the last pair (C) does have a deeper inclusion on the reverse (shown in the last two photos) which has been naturally formed as it was tumbled in the waves. However this is not noticeable from the front and there are no sharp edges anywhere.
Please be aware that due to the nature of sea glass, the pieces in each pair are not identical to each other, but they have been carefully selected to provide as close a match as possible in terms of shape, size and colour. Dimensions of the largest piece of glass in each pair are as follows, please select your chosen pair from the menu.
A - Small Round - 10mm long, 10mm wide, 7mm thick
B - Large Round - 14mm long, 12mm wide, 9mm thick
C - Cylindrical - 14mm long, 10mm wide, 8mm thick
The earwires are each marked with the 925 sterling silver stamp and all components used are solid sterling silver, and not plated metal.
A perfect gift for anyone, but especially those who love the sea!
**In the interests of hygiene the hook wires on any earrings worn in photos have been changed prior to sale**
Sea glass is broadly defined as glass which has been discarded into the oceans or on beaches, thereafter spending many decades being gently tumbled by the waves. This gives it the characteristic smooth edges and beautiful frosted appearance which defines it.
Every piece of sea glass I use is authentic, genuine sea glass – the majority of the material in this collection has been found by fellow beachcombers on the coasts of West Scotland where pieces in this particular shade are more abundant and of a more rounded size and shape than the pieces I find locally on my own beach. It is said that grey sea glass may originate from traditional sources such as glassware and bottles, but also from old TV screens and tinted automobile windows!
As the glass I use is genuine, ocean tumbled sea glass, it does contain the very tiny indentions and 'C' marks on the surface which were created as it spent decades in the water - these are the characteristic signs of its authenticity. These marks are not usually obvious to the naked eye but may be visible in the close-up photographs.
Each item of sea glass jewellery I make will by its very nature be unique and 'one of a kind' - the pictures you see here in each listing will be of the exact item that will be received and I always try to give as accurate a description as possible. Please feel free to message me if there is anything else you would like to know about sea glass or any item in this collection!
Shipping within the UK is already included via Royal Mail's ‘Tracked 24’ service (delivery estimate within 2-3 working days), with an optional upgrade to an express 'Special Delivery' service available at checkout for an additional charge (delivery estimate 1-2 working days).
I always aim to despatch all orders on the same or next working day that they are received, so any upgrade in postage chosen by a customer will be for the purposes of achieving higher priority within the Royal Mail system itself, rather than a faster processing time from me as a seller.
Please be aware that I am unable to guarantee specific delivery times of orders once posted but an estimate will be provided on checkout. This is a guide only.
Every item of Willow & Twigg jewellery is presented beautifully wrapped in tissue paper and ready for giving as a gift. However, if you would like to upgrade the standard packaging to a ribbon-tied cardboard gift box, then I also offer a gift-wrapping upgrade via the optional check-box. Some larger or higher value items will include this option as standard and in such cases it won't be shown as an option in the listing.
If your purchase is a gift and you wish to include a short handwritten message on a tag then I am more than happy to provide this service free of charge, regardless of packaging choice. Please enter any required text in the optional box to the left of the images.
In addition, if you wish the item to be sent direct to the recipient, then please make sure the mailing address is correct during the checkout process.
Aftercare advice on how to best care for your handmade jewellery will be provided in a leaflet with every order, but can also be found at the link HERE.
More information on payment and shipping, along with a copy of our full terms and conditions and privacy policy can be found at the links in the main menu and at the footer of each page.
And finally, if there is anything else at all that you would like to know about a particular item then please don’t hesitate to send a message and I’ll do my best to help!
