Product Details

Sold individually, each of these striking and unique necklaces features a genuine and rare ocean-tumbled sea glass 'Codd' bottle marble, wrapped around the centre in fine silver to create a stunning and unusual pendant.

The sea glass is a beautiful classic seafoam green colour with a lovely rounded shape and a very tactile, gorgeously frosted surface.

Codd marbles like these were traditionally found in the necks of glass bottles which contained carbonated drinks, and used to create a seal that helped prevent the drinks going flat. The bottles were originally invented in the mid 1800s meaning sea glass marbles like these could potentially be over 150 years old!

They have been naturally tumbled by the ocean and as as result have all the beautiful 'C' marks and tiny inclusions that are characteristic of authentic sea glass and indicative of the many years spent being worn by the waves; these should be visible in the close-up photos.

The marbles have been securely set into a band of shiny solid silver that wraps around the centre, with a simple hanging bail of two sterling silver rings. This style of minimalist setting allows the light to pass through the glass and highlights its beautiful translucency, whilst enabling the colour to be seen and allowing it to 'glow' in the sunlight.

The marbles used in these pendants each measure approximately 16-18mm across, and the silver bands measure 5mm across. The pendants have a total hanging length of approximately 28mm from the bottom of the marble to the top of the highest hanging rings.

Each pendant has been paired with an adjustable 50cm/20" solid sterling silver belcher chain which fastens with a lobster trigger clasp. The chain is a thicker and stronger style to match the weight of the pendant, and has been fitted with two securing rings at the end so it may be worn at either 50cm/20" or a shorter length of 45cm/18" as preferred (shown worn at the longer length in the photos).

I do usually have other chains available if you would prefer an alternative style or length - please message and ask before purchasing if you would like a different one to that which is shown here.

This is a beautifully unique 'one of a kind' necklace, featuring one of the ocean's rarest treasures in a simple yet striking style - perfect for all lovers of the ocean and great as a gift!

*Please note* - I have more than one of these necklaces available, and since they are almost identical to each other I have not categorised them individually in a menu as I often do for my other more variable styles. Therefore the necklace received may not be an exact match to the ones shown within the images included in this listing. If you would prefer to select a specific necklace from those available, please get in touch!

ABOUT THE SEA GLASS

Sea glass is broadly defined as glass which has been discarded into the oceans or on beaches, thereafter spending many decades being gently tumbled by the waves. This gives it the characteristic smooth edges and beautiful frosted appearance which defines it.

Every piece of sea glass I use is authentic, genuine sea glass – the majority of which has been personally collected by me from the pebbly beaches along The Solent in Hampshire, where I live. However, the glass used in these particular necklaces originated from the coast of Scotland.

You can find out more about the sea glass I use in the ‘about’ pages of this website.

PACKAGING & SHIPPING

Due to weight and value, each necklace will be carefully gift wrapped and presented in a ribbon-tied cardboard gift box. All items are sent in mailing boxes, mailing bags or padded envelopes as appropriate.

Shipping within the UK is already included via Royal Mail's ‘Tracked 24’ service (delivery estimate within 2-3 working days), with an optional upgrade to an express 'Special Delivery' service available at checkout for an additional charge (delivery estimate 1-2 working days).

I always aim to despatch all orders on the same or next working day that they are received, so any upgrade in postage chosen by a customer will be for the purposes of achieving higher priority within the Royal Mail system itself, rather than a faster processing time from me as a seller.

Please be aware that I am unable to guarantee specific delivery times of orders once posted but an estimate will be provided on checkout. This is a guide only.

GIFT WRAP & MESSAGING

This item already includes the gift packaging upgrade as standard, which is why the option to select it is not included on this listing.

If you wish to include a short handwritten message on a tag then I am more than happy to provide this service free of charge. Please enter any required text in the optional box to the left of the images.

In addition, if you wish the item to be sent direct to the recipient, then please make sure the mailing address is correct during the checkout process.
