This sea glass ring from the 'Smokey Waters' collection is a UK size N and features a lovely pebble of steel grey sea glass in a handcrafted sterling silver bezel setting with a plain edge and a slim hammered band.
The sea glass in this ring is a lovely medium steel-grey, with beautiful shadows within it and a lovely tactile, frosty surface. It sits securely within a simple sterling silver bezel setting, with a solid backplate and a neat, plain edge. The setting measures 16mm by 15mm and is 7mm deep.
The band is a UK size N with a diameter of approximately 18mm directly across. It is a slimmer band with a width of 2.3mm and a hammered finish.
All the rings in this collection have a 'split shank' open-style fitting on the underside of the bezel backplate. This means that the size is fixed, but the sea glass doesn't sit too high or proud on the hand. It also makes for a more comfortable and snug fit and reduces the likelihood of the ring sliding around or dropping from side to side on the finger.
The ring has been oxidised with a darkening patina to add some depth and shadow to the silver, before being brought back to a higher shine. The underside of the backplate has a brushed satin finish.
A unique ring, in a classic and classy style, this is an elegant and unusual piece of jewellery that will go well with any colour or outfit!
Sea glass is broadly defined as glass which has been discarded into the oceans or on beaches, thereafter spending many decades being gently tumbled by the waves. This gives it the characteristic smooth edges and beautiful frosted appearance which defines it.
Every piece of sea glass I use is authentic, genuine sea glass – the majority of the material in this collection has been found by fellow beachcombers on the coasts of West Scotland where pieces in this particular shade are more abundant and of a more rounded size and shape than the pieces I find locally on my own beach. It is said that grey sea glass may originate from traditional sources such as glassware and bottles, but also from old TV screens and tinted automobile windows!
As the glass I use is genuine, ocean tumbled sea glass, it does contain the very tiny indentions and 'C' marks on the surface which were created as it spent decades in the water - these are the characteristic signs of its authenticity. These marks are not usually obvious to the naked eye but may be visible in the close-up photographs.
Each item of sea glass jewellery I make will by its very nature be unique and 'one of a kind' - the pictures you see here in each listing will be of the exact item that will be received and I always try to give as accurate a description as possible. Please feel free to message me if there is anything else you would like to know about sea glass or any item in this collection!
Due to size and value, this ring will be carefully gift wrapped and presented in a ribbon-tied cardboard gift box. All items are sent in mailing boxes, mailing bags or padded envelopes as appropriate.
Shipping within the UK is already included via Royal Mail's ‘Tracked 24’ service (delivery estimate within 2-3 working days), with an optional upgrade to an express 'Special Delivery' service available at checkout for an additional charge (delivery estimate 1-2 working days).
I always aim to despatch all orders on the same or next working day that they are received, so any upgrade in postage chosen by a customer will be for the purposes of achieving higher priority within the Royal Mail system itself, rather than a faster processing time from me as a seller.
Please be aware that I am unable to guarantee specific delivery times of orders once posted but an estimate will be provided on checkout. This is a guide only.
If you wish to include a short handwritten message on a tag then I am more than happy to provide this service free of charge. Please enter any required text in the optional box to the left of the images.
In addition, if you wish the item to be sent direct to the recipient, then please make sure the mailing address is correct during the checkout process.
Aftercare advice on how to best care for your handmade jewellery will be provided in a leaflet with every order, but can also be found at the link HERE.
More information on payment and shipping, along with a copy of our full terms and conditions and privacy policy can be found at the links in the main menu and at the footer of each page.
And finally, if there is anything else at all that you would like to know about a particular item then please don’t hesitate to send a message and I’ll do my best to help!
