Sterling Silver 'Caged' Sea Glass Marble Pendant Necklace, Blue
Sold individually, these striking and unique necklaces would make a perfect locket for any mermaid! They each feature a genuine and rare ocean-tumbled sea glass marble in a beautiful shade of blue, frosted and marked by the sea and preserved exactly as they were found in a bespoke handcrafted solid silver cage - the exact design of which is unique to Willow & Twigg!
There are currently two different necklaces available - one with a smaller and slightly more opaque marble and the second with a larger, slightly more transparent one. Each one is a lovely rounded shape, with the smaller and darker marble being a cornflower colour with white swirls, and the larger one being a clearer coloured marble with a blue 'cats eye' contained within.
They both have a very tactile, gorgeously frosted surface and have been naturally tumbled by the ocean - as a result of this journey they have all the beautiful 'C' marks and tiny inclusions that are characteristic of authentic sea glass and indicative of the many years spent being worn by the waves. These should be visible in the close-up photos.
Each marble has been securely set into a very simple cage made from shiny recycled solid silver that has just four bars - keeping the metal to a minimum and letting the beauty of the marble take centre stage.
This style of setting also allows light to pass through the glass and highlights its beautiful translucency, whilst enabling the colour and patterns to be fully appreciated as it 'glows' in the sunshine.
Each pendant is suspended from the top by means of a simple silver hanging ring, and whilst the marbles are free to spin in the setting, it should be noted that they cannot be removed (and therefore are safe from accidental loss!).
The smaller and darker marble measures approximately 14mm across, and the cage itself measures 18mm across at the widest part and is 23mm in length from the base to the top of the fixed hanging rings.
The larger and paler marble is 16mm across, and the cage itself measures 20mm across at the widest part and is 25mm in length from the base to the top of the fixed hanging rings.

Each necklace has been paired with a 50cm/20" solid sterling silver belcher chain which fastens with a lobster trigger clasp. The chain is a thicker and stronger style to match the weight of the pendant, and I do usually have other chains available if you would prefer an alternative style or length - please message and ask before purchasing if you would like a different one to that which is shown here.
This is a beautifully unique 'one of a kind' style necklace, featuring one of the ocean's rarest treasures in a simple yet striking style - perfect for all lovers of the ocean and great as a gift!
Please note - as previously stated the marbles are not removable and the cage does not open in any way.
ABOUT THE SEA GLASS
Every piece of sea glass I use is authentic, genuine sea glass – much of which has been personally collected by me from the pebbly beaches along The Solent in Hampshire, where I live. However, the glass used in these particular necklaces originated from the North East coast of England where glass factories were once located and where surplus quantities were often discarded into the sea. This resulted in a more plentiful supply of sea glass to be found on the surrounding beaches several decades, and even centuries, later!
PACKAGING & SHIPPING
Due to weight and value, this necklace will be carefully gift wrapped and presented in a ribbon-tied cardboard gift box. All items are sent in mailing boxes, mailing bags or padded envelopes as appropriate.
Shipping within the UK is already included via Royal Mail's ‘Tracked 24’ service (delivery estimate within 2-3 working days), with an optional upgrade to an express 'Special Delivery' service available at checkout for an additional charge (delivery estimate 1-2 working days).
I always aim to despatch all orders on the same or next working day that they are received, so any upgrade in postage chosen by a customer will be for the purposes of achieving higher priority within the Royal Mail system itself, rather than a faster processing time from me as a seller.
