This unique pendant is entirely handcrafted from sterling and fine silver, and features a beautiful pebble of authentic aqua-coloured sea glass set in a bezel that has been embellished with a series of silver balls and a moving, riveted hanging bail.

The pendant measures 40mm (4cm) long from the top of the bail to the base of the setting (not including the twisted rings)and is 22mm (2.2cm) wide, and 10mm (1cm) deep. The bail is securely attached to the main setting but is free to move gently forward and back - rather reminiscent of a shackle on a boat!

The sea glass in this necklace is a very pretty aqua green colour, with a wonderfully tactile frosty surface. It has a gentle curve, and all the tiny c-marks from years spent tumbling in the waves that indicate its authenticity.

The pendant hangs from the riveted bail by means of three twisted silver rings, and is paired with a removable classic oval belcher chain which measures 20" (50cm) but can also be shortened to 18" if preferred. It is shown worn at the longer length in the photos. The chain fastens with a classic lobster clasp. I do usually have other chain styles and lengths available, so please get in touch if you love this pendant but would prefer an alternative chain.

Both the pendant setting and the chain have been oxidised with a darkening patina to highlight the details and create a sense of light and shadow, before being polished back to a higher shine. The reverse of the backplate has a soft brushed satin finish.

A beautiful and unusual pendant with a contemporary feel, that would be perfect for gifting to anyone who loves the sea!

ABOUT THE SEA GLASS

Sea glass is broadly defined as glass which has been discarded into the oceans or on beaches, thereafter spending many decades being gently tumbled by the waves. This gives it the characteristic smooth edges and beautiful frosted appearance which defines it.

Every piece of sea glass I use is authentic, genuine sea glass – some of the the pieces here were found by me on my local beach, and others were collected by fellow beachcombers on the coasts of North East England where jewellery-grade sea glass is often more abundant and of a more unusual and bright colour.

As the glass I use is genuine, ocean tumbled sea glass, it does contain the very tiny indentions and 'C' marks on the surface which were created as it spent decades in the water - these are the characteristic signs of its authenticity. These marks are not usually obvious to the naked eye but may be visible in the close-up photographs.

Each item of sea glass jewellery I make will by its very nature be unique and 'one of a kind' - the pictures you see here in each listing will be of the exact item that will be received and I always try to give as accurate a description as possible. Due to weight and value, this necklace will be carefully gift wrapped and presented in a ribbon-tied cardboard gift box. All items are sent in mailing boxes, mailing bags or padded envelopes as appropriate.

Shipping within the UK is already included via Royal Mail's ‘Tracked 24’ service (delivery estimate within 2-3 working days), with an optional upgrade to an express 'Special Delivery' service available at checkout for an additional charge (delivery estimate 1-2 working days).

I always aim to despatch all orders on the same or next working day that they are received, so any upgrade in postage chosen by a customer will be for the purposes of achieving higher priority within the Royal Mail system itself, rather than a faster processing time from me as a seller.
